FVR About Us
FVR
FVR was created in April 2008 on the release of the FVRV8_08 mod which included the Fujitsu's Series. The purpose of FVRV8_08 was to provide our own version of a V8 Simulation so that we could edit and contour it for our needs. vancstar and I did the mod together, with vancstar doing the physics, sounds and the tedious typing stuff. We quickly snatched up Ferret40 to assist us in the skins. He ended up doing all of them from memory.
We felt the need to update FVRV8_08 to continuosly make it better... or worse depending who you are. Its funny how some people have said that we have done a lot of patches, well thats what we set out to do, constantly updating. Vancstar left us in October of 2008, and we drafted in a good friend dBens1 to join us in the back of house stuff. Of course we didn't stop there and did FVRV8_NZ. Mainly for our across the Tasman friends. Ferret did the skins for two years of models and had to bend and shake to do this with two different versions of the Falcon.
Then Gunthar Rowe asked if he could convert FVRV8_08 to GTR Evolution. Gunthar drafted in Jason Madigan to do the physics and they set to work demanding changes and a lot of things had to be reworked modelling wise to work. Of ocurse we had a huge band of beta testers, which can be challenging to manage. One commented about two days before release that there should be a new VE model.
So January we set to work on the new FVRV8 2009 v1.5. We kept it exceptionally quiet regarding the FG, although we did release screenshots of the new VE. They still aren't right but thats what we're about, changing constantly, updating, upgrading and giving the users something new. We had a date in mind for release, the first real race weekend of the 2009 series, which we achieved. Then Gunthar and I set about the conversion of the cars to the EVO version which was released about 2 weeks later. That was a very tedious and stressful period through those months.
In the background Ferret40 was working on skins for the Fujitsu 2009 series and many personal projects. dBens1 did the physics transfer and changes for the rF version, he does the cams and is experimenting with sounds for a an update for the mod.
We thought we'd have a go at tracks and have so far popped out Hamilton and Townsville as WIP releases to our members. These two tracks will be updated with Townsville getting an overhaul again. (August 09)
Gunthar and I started to do the conversion of GTR2 but Gunthar has also left us in search of bigger and better things with MMG. Jason Madigan disappeared and has not made contact for many months.
We are just about to finish GTR2 conversionwith dBens1 doing the physics changes and it should be a welcome spot on the GTR2 calendar and we're back to the original members of the main team.
Our forums are hopefully a place for everyone to come and have a chat and we try to regularly keep in contact. They have become a part of our lives now and we trust a good spot to hang out for a lot of people.
We do all of this for fun and as long as the fun stays in it then we'll keep doing it and I guess its been going for many years for me. Prior to FVR, I was part of The US Pits mod team when we did the GN70 mod version 1 for NR2003. I did the scripting. I also did a private version of V8's for NR2003 using the bodies of the ORSM cars, it got released and the poo hit the fan. I then did my own cars and put the ORSM skins on that, got in the poo again although to this day I say doing that is very hard making the skin fit the model. Then did my own skins. We got to version 1.6 which has always been a lucky number. Vancstar and I did OZ Racers which FVR will revisit for an updated version soon.
All of this time I was learning and I still am learning but most of all I like to help others get involved in this modding thing. So drop by - one of us will be more than heappy to give you a hand if we know how. If we don't, we'll do our best to find out.
For now we have a few plans on the board and are busily working through them.
